Your “Must Have” Items For St. Patrick’s Day

The month of March is marching on by. But, before we wrap up the month, we can’t forget the notable days of the month to celebrate. Break out your green attire, green trinkets, green food coloring, and anything green in your closet as next week Friday, March 17 is St. Patrick’s Day!

Aside from all the fun festivities, there is a plethora of great food that accompanies this day. While there are tried and true dishes that are a must, don’t be afraid to experiment a bit and get creative. We are doing a spin on the traditional corned beef and cabbage meal, as our neighbor who owns “My Rib Joint” is barbecuing the meat and roasting a variety of vegetables. I’m salivating just thinking of it!

Don’t forget to have a loaf of Soda bread without raisins or currants on hand to soak up the savory juice from the meat. You certainly don’t want any of that to go to waste!

Everyone thinks of green beer as the beverage of choice for the night. But don’t forget that you have other options as well. Bailey’s can be jazzed up with some food coloring. Or better yet, pick up some green-colored plastic cups so you can make any beverage festive. Even water on the rocks will look cheerful and inviting.

While we are eagerly awaiting the main course as we've never had smoked corned beef before, we can’t forget the great desserts like a stout-infused chocolate layer cake or whiskey caramel cupcakes.

If you’re like me and you don’t have time to bake this year, consider pairing some of the following chocolates with your meal … The Chocolate Conspiracy Baba Black Lager Bar 75% is a dark chocolate bar made with cacao nibs from Peru that are infused in Uinta Black Lager.

If whiskey is more your jam, make sure your table is equipped with Millcreek Cacao Chuno with High West Whiskey. It is a 78% chocolate bar made with Nicaraguan cacao that boasts some smokey whiskey notes.

However you choose to celebrate the day, do it safely and with tasty items, like chocolate!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day to you all!
